오늘은 '당신이 말씀의 위력을 경험하지 못하는 이유'라는 제목으로 함께 생각해보도록 하겠습니다.
I would like to talk to you about "The Reason Why You Don't Experience The Amazing Power of His Words."
우리네 교회처럼 성경공부를 열심히 하는 나라는 없습니다.
There is no one in this world that studies the Bible harder than us Koreans.
예배시간마다 목회자들은 자신들이 가진 해박한 성경지식으로 현학적인 설교를 자랑하고 있으며, 신앙의 연륜이 오래 묻어나는 교인들도 자신의 해박한 성경지식을 남들이 알아주기를 바라고 있습니다.
At every worship service, the pastors boast their vast biblical knowledge through their pedantic sermons, and long time church-goers boast as well, hoping everyone around them would know how wise and knowlegeable they are.
그러나 민낯을 드러내는 곳이 바로 인터넷 기독교 카페입니다.
And the place for all these people to gather and boast is the Christian websites.
그곳에 누군가가 글을 올려놓으면, 댓글로 자신들이 아는 성경구절로 도배하는 일들이 허다하죠.
If someone posts, people often reply him or her with all these Bible verses they know that are fitting for that particular post.
그래서 유명카페에는 해박한 성경 지식으로 무장한 터줏대감들이 넘쳐나고 있습니다.
So big and popular sites have numbers of regulars, full of biblical knowledge.
뭐, 이들의 눈에 잘못 걸린 사람들이 있다면 아주 십자포화를 맞을 각오를 단단히 해야할 것입니다.
And if you cross them, you'll have to ready yourself to survive from their attacks.
이렇게 우리네 교회에는 성경지식을 머리에 많이 저장한 사람들이 믿음이 출중한 사람들이라는 기이한 공식이 적용되고 있습니다.
In the church today, there is a weird idea where people who know about the Bible well are faithful.
또한 특정한 말씀구절을 화두로 삼아 기도하는 당혹스런 광경을 연출하기도 합니다.
Furthermore, some people create a scene where they pray with certain Bible verse as their topic of prayer.
그래서 자신이 원하는 아주 특정한 말씀을 암송하여 부르짖고 기도하기도 합니다.
They also "pray" the Bible verses; they sing and memorize the verse, hoping what the verse talks about happens to them in their lives.
게다가 교회마다 연말에 송구영신예배를 드릴 때 말씀카드 뽑기를 하여 교인들이 뽑은 성경구절을 한해동안 말씀하시는 하나님의 권면으로 여기는 풍토를 가지고 있습니다.
Some churchs draw Bible verses during the New Year's Eve worship, considering what they have drawn out is the personal message God is giving them.
그러나 그러한 광경을 보면서 세간의 참새로 하여금 특정한 점괘쪽지를 뽑아주는 점치는 할아버지가 생각나는 이유가 무엇일까요.
Their actions remind me of shamans that draw fortunes out of boxes using little sparrow.
미물인 참새가 사람의 운명을 알아내어 준다는 우스꽝스런 발상이 우리네 교회 말씀 뽑기와 겹쳐지고 있으니 말입니다.
Sparrow, a mere bird, draws people's fortunes... isn't that funny?
솔직히 말해서, 말씀 뽑기 카드에 들어가는 내용은 덕담이나 위로, 그런 축복을 주는 구절밖에 없습니다.
And like it or not, those messages from God is usually the verses that give you comfort and blessings.
하나님의 뜻대로 살지않은 백성들을 향한 경고와 재앙, 심판, 그리고 고난을 암시하며 죄의 회개촉구, 지옥을 말하는 구절들은 애초에 들어가있지도 않아요.
There is no such thing as warnings, disasters, judgments, and suffereing in those draws, let alone messages that tell people to repent, or that describe Hell.
말하자면, 말씀카드에 들어가는 구절들은 덕담과 축복과 위로로 구성되어 있어, 뭐 어느 구절을 뽑던지 대동소이합니다.
Basically, whatever you choose, those verses will all comfort and bless you. There is not much of a difference.
그런데 사람들은 자신들이 소원하는 말씀을 뽑았다고 좋아하거나 자신이 뽑은 성경구절이 성령님께서 자신에게 한 특정한 권면이라고 생각하고 있으니 기가 막히는 일이죠.
But people are happy that they chose the verses they like or prayed for and consider them God's personal messages. Funy, isn't it?
그럼으로 성경말씀을 화려한 이벤트 예배의 한낱 소품으로 만든 이들은 혹독한 댓가를 치루게 될 것입니다.
The people who have turned the Bible into a prop for extravagant Sunday worship services will pay the price greatly.
이렇게 비뚤어지고 구부러진 성경말씀에 대한 가증스런 태도는 하나님의 진노만을 불러일으킬 뿐입니다.
This distorted interpretation and use of the scripture will only raise God's anger.
오늘도 저에게 해외에서 기도훈련을 받는 자매님이 어느 말씀을 붙들고 기도해야될지 모른다며 하소연하는 편지를 보내왔습니다.
I had another mail from a sister overseas asking me what Bible verse to pray with.
기존교회에서 말씀을 붙들고 기도하라는 권면이 귀에 못이 박힌 탓이죠.
It is because she is so used to doing so, with her church telling her that is the right way to pray.
그렇다면 왜 기도할 때 특정한 말씀을 화두로 삼아 암송하고 떠올리며 기도해야 하는가?
Then why do you need to do that? Praying with a Bible verse?
성경말씀은 기도와 더불어 하나님을 만나는 통로입니다.
The scripture is another way to meet with God, other than the prayer.
말하자면 하나님은 성경을 통해 자신의 뜻을 말씀하셨고 사람들은 말씀을 통해 하나님을 알고 만나야합니다.
God spoke of his will through the Bible, and people have to know and meet him through the Bible.
그렇다면 당연히 성경 전체에서 말씀하시는 뜻을 해박하게 알아야할 것이 아닙니까?
Then, that means you need to know everything that says in the Bibe, right?
그래서 매일처럼 성경말씀을 꾸준히 읽어야할 것입니다.
Then you will have to read the Bible everyday.
그러나 대부분의 교인들은 설교시간에 들어왔던 특정한 사건이나 인물, 그리고 목회자가 선호하는 위로와 덕담을 전하는 말씀만을 편식하고 있습니다.
But people tend to read passages only familiar to them, the ones they've heard from previous services, and the ones they feel comfortable with.
그래서 진노하시는 하나님에 대해서는 무지하고 끝까지 사랑하시는 자애로운 하나님과 우리를 친구로 여기시는 너그러운 예수님만을 알고 있을 뿐입니다.
So they are completely ignorant about God of wrath. They only know ever loving God, the merciful God, and friendly Jesus.
또한 성경을 규칙적으로 읽는 교인이라고 하더라도 교단에서 추종하는 신학자들이 자의적으로 해석하고 아전인수식으로 왜곡되게 비틀어진 말씀을 앵무새처럼 반복하는 목회자의 해설을 하나님의 말씀으로 기정사실화하여 받아들이기 때문에 본래의 하나님의 뜻을 알아낼 방도가 없습니다.
Also, it would be hard to find and understand God's message if you accept the interpretations of your pastors and theologists as the actual word of God, even if you read Bible regularly.
그러나 더욱 경악스러운 사실은 대부분의 교인들이 성경을 규칙적으로 읽지 않고 있어서 하나님의 뜻에 무지하다는 것이죠.
More shocking fact is that they don't know God or his will because they don't read the Bible regularly.
말하자면 성경지식에 해박한 사람들도 지식으로 받아들여 머리에 저장하여 자기만족이거나 혹은 자기의 의를 드러내는데 사용하고 있으며, 상당수의 교인들은 성경말씀을 읽는 습관조차 없어서 오랜 신앙의 연륜에도 불구하고 말씀에 무지한 이들이 교회에 널려있습니다.
Even the people who knows the Bible use it as a tool for self-contentment and for showing off to people for their vast knowledge. And there are a number of people who don't even read the Bible regularly and are completely unaware of what goes on in the scripture, despite their long religious life style.
즉 성경지식이 출중한 교인들이거나 아니면 성경지식이 무지한 교인들이거나 하나님의 뜻에 무지하다는 것은 별반 다르지 않다는 것이죠.
Basically, a person with biblical knowledge is not too different from the ones without, as far as knowing God's will goes.
그러나 저의 주장을 인정하는 교인들은 거의 없을 것입니다.
But I don't think there will be many Christians that will agree with my claims.
요한복음 1: 1에, "태초에 말씀이 계시니라 이 말씀이 하나님과 함께 계셨으니 이 말씀은 곧 하나님이시니라."
It says in John 1: 1, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."
이 말씀은 하도 유명해서 설명을 덧붙일 필요가 없을 것입니다.
I don't even need to explain this, since it is one of the most famous verse from the holy book.
이 구절에 따르면 하나님은 말씀으로 자신의 존재감을 드러내신다고 말하고 계시죠.
According to this verse, God reveals himself through his words.
그렇다면 전지전능한 하나님께서 말씀으로 자신의 존재감을 드러내신 것을 여러분은 삶의 현장에서 경험하고 계십니까?
Then, do you feel God revealing himself through his words in your life?
그렇다면 여러분은 매일처럼 기적과 이적을 경험하면서 하나님의 놀라운 위력에 혀를 내두르고 계셔야할 것입니다.
If you are, you should be experiencing that everyday, amazed by his power and grace.
그러나 솔직히 말해봅시다.
Let's be honest here.
그런 일들이 일어나는 일들이, 사람들이 우리네 주변에 얼마나 있어요?
How many people have you seen that has miracles happen to him or her all the time?
해박한 성경지식으로 남을 정죄하거나 자기만족에 빠진 이들은 적지 않지만 하나님의 말씀을 날마다 삶의 현장에서 경험하는 이들은 거의 없습니다.
There aren't many people who experience the word of God in their lives; there are a lot of people who judge with the biblical knowledge they have, drunk in self-satisfaction.
왜 그런지 아십니까?
Do you know why?
그동안 들어왔던 성경말씀이 그냥 지식으로 머리에 저장되어있기 때문입니다.
It is because all the verses you studied stayed in your brain as knowledge.
예수님을 믿지 않는 세상사람들도 성경책을 열심히 읽으면 성경지식이 많이 쌓여져서 사람들과의 논쟁에서 이길 수 있습니다.
People who have nothing to do with God can read the Bible and win people over discussions, from the knowledge they gain.
이단들도 성경책을 가지고 다니며 자신들의 논리를 뒷받침해주는 구절만을 빨간줄로 그어가지고 다니면서 말씀이 허접한 교인들을 당혹하게 만들고 있죠.
Cults also use the Bible as their tool to support their logic. They seduce knowledge-less Christians with their logic that seems to be supported by the Bible.
최근 급성장한 S 이단은 성경말씀을 자의적인 자신들의 논리로 재해석한 비유풀이를 앞세워서 그동안 들어왔던 성경해석만을 아는 크리스천들을 미혹하고 끌어들이고 있죠.
The Cult S, the one recently became very powerful, talks and seduces Christians with their knowledge of Bible, making their own interpretations that sounds Christian.
이런 사건들이 왜 일어나는지 아십니까?
Why do these happen?
그동안 우리네 교회에서 가르치고 배워왔던 성경말씀은 그냥 머리에 저장하는 한낱 지식에 불과했지, 하나님을 만나는 통로로써 사용되지도 못하고 하나님의 능력을 경험하지도 못하기 때문입니다.
All this time, the word of God the church preached became knowlege residing inside our brains; it never was used to meet God or experience his power.
"하나님의 말씀은 살아 있고 활력이 있어 좌우에 날선 어떤 검보다도 예리하여 혼과 영과 및 관절과 골수를 찔러 쪼개기까지 하며 또 마음의 생각과 뜻을 판단하나니" 히브리서 4: 12 말씀이죠.
"For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart," says in Hebrew 4: 12.
그렇다면 왜 여러분에게 하나님의 말씀이 살아서 놀라운 능력으로 드러나지 않는지 아십니까?
Then why would the word of God not appear alive and active to you?
그 이유는 성령이 내주하는 기도의 습관이 없기 때문입니다.
It is because you don't pray. You don't have the Holy Spirit living inside you.
말씀이 한낱 기독교의 종교적인 지식이 아니라 살아계신 하나님을 만나는 통로가 되려면 성령님이 말씀을 비추어주셔서 깨달음으로 가슴에 내려와야합니다.
So for God's word to become alive, working as the way to meet God, the Holy Spirit has to enlighten you.
그래서 가슴에 새겨진 말씀이 살아서 삶과 영혼의 활력소가 되고 능력이 되어서 일상의 삶에서 전능하신 하나님의 위력을 경험하게 될 수 있죠.
Then the word will become the energy and ability for your life, experiencing God Almighty's power.
그러나 우리네 교회는 성령과 동행하는 기도의 습관에 무지하고, 성경책을 달달 외우는데 골몰하며, 아무런 능력이 나타나지 않은 현상을 설명해주는 신학자들의 주장 뒤에 숨어서 자신들의 무능과 무기력을 감추고 있습니다.
But the church today are totally ignorant about prayer routines that brings the Holy Spirit; they focus on memorizing the Bible verses, and try to explain why these miracles are long gone, hiding their powerlessness behind theologists' theories.
그래서 벌거숭이 임금님처럼 벗고다니면서도 부끄러움을 모르고 있는 실정이죠.
They remind me of the naked emperor from the story "The Emperor's New Clothes."
여러분이 성경을 읽으면서도 가슴에 구구절절이 새겨지는 깨달음이 없다면 여러분이 여전히 상관없는 사람으로 살다가 지옥불에 던져지게 될 것입니다.
If you don't get enlightened by every verse you read from the Bible, you will live as someone unrelated to God and be thrown in Hell fire.
하나님은 말씀 지식이 아니라 성령의 능력으로 자신의 존재감을 드러내시는 분이기 때문입니다.
Because God reveals himself through the power of Holy Spirit, not by words or knowledge.

I think this is the right time to tell you about this good news, because in the last few days I was a sinner, has slowed down the social project of the church in Indonesia. The target of this project is to help Christians in this country whose social and economic rights are deprived. I felt diminished on that basis. And I am committed to each of the postings I use for the charity once before in Indonesia. And here I am compiling and forming structures with some other steemians.
Thank you for sharing. We truly need the Holy Spirit for guidance. I am glad the Lord says in His Word that he will give the Holy Spirit to whomever he ask freely. We also have to learn to hear His voice because we are hearing our own voice, the worlds, satan and his angels.
I have read a book by a Christian man who was delivered from demon worship. Roger Morneau. He has several books entiteld "When you need incredible answers to Prayer." In one of the chapters, Roger shared one reason he has so much power in His prayer. Roger uses the Crucifixion story in Matthew and Jesus death as part of His prayer.
He essentially claims the merits of Jesus blood and sacrifice. I believe in one story he saw a man and women fighting in the parking lot. Roger prayed for them through the blood of Jesus and there was immediately peace.
Pride is the first original sin. And anything that is rooted in pride is suspect - in my eyes. Unfortunately, in the modern western society, we want to be proud - we say that as encouragement. This is so opposite to my upbringing as a Chinese. I would limit the use of such expressions:
Jesus taught us to be humble -
"Gospels various sayings about the first and the last which fall into two groups, one ..... bled, and whoever shall humble himself shall be exalted." This is a familiar ... The thought is central in Isaiah's teaching, and has a large place in ..."
"Sitting down, Jesus called the Twelve and said, "If anyone wants to be first, he must be the very last, and the servant of all. ... Jesus taught us that in his kingdom, he doesn't want his followers (that's us) to be pushing to be first in line. ... He wants us to be humble, to be a servant, to put others before ourselves."
