Vision of the Invisible.

Life is in phases. Man's pursuit differ at different phases of his life. At some point the desire may be to get a good education, at another an established business or job. At yet another point in time, the desire maybe to get married and start a home. The list goes on and on.
Achieving certain things may look easier when life or situation haven't burdened you with a need for it. When time finally brings the desire for that thing close to your heart, you may then realize that attaining that desire wasn't as easy as you initially thought.

Joshua 6:1, "Now Jericho...", Now when the children of Israel was set to go into their possession. Now, when it's was time for them to go to the next level. Now, after overcoming previous obstacles and challenges...then Jericho - a resistance - showed up!

Jericho was significant to Israelites possession of Canaan. For Jericho is a border city to Canaan. But in this instance, Jericho was shut down. No going in or out. Why?

  • to protect the city from invasion
  • to protect her interest
  • to maintain her status - as impregnable, fortified etc

We have often times reached a Jericho in our lives. Jericho suggests impossibility. Jericho represents surrender. Jericho suggests resignation. Jericho says ' your life is finished. You are done!' Jericho says 'you can't be better than this'. All what Jericho suggests to us are lies, things contrary to God's mandate for our lives.

In verse 2 of the above text, God gave Joshua the key to conquering Jericho. "See! I have given Jericho into your hand..." May God give us sight beyond what our physical eyes can see. You can't see through God's eye without possessing His Spirit. The vision of the Invisible can only be seen through the eye of the Spirit. We can't lead a blessed life without a relationship with the Holy Spirit. If only we can see, we would realize that many of the issues that come our way are not worth our worry. For in the midst of them, God has already placed the solution, it only takes insight.

God told Joshua to 'see'. Not the wall of Jericho, not the problem, not the obstacle; but to see the victory He had already given Israel. Stop staring at the problem, stop analyzing your obstacles, start to see the victory of Jesus in your situation.

Love the picture's choice, couldn't have been better than this one !

Thank you

This was so very encouraging. It reminded me of David in Psalm, "By Him I have leaped over a wall! In the case of Jericho, the wall crumbled!
This truly blessed me, very insightful! Thank you

You're welcome!
