WHAT IS "REST'' FROM THE DIVINE PERSPECTIVE?

in #christianity7 months ago (edited)

Have you ever wondered what "rest" means from God's perspective? Understanding this concept can bring peace and clarity to your life. Let's explore together what rest truly entails and how it can positively impact your spiritual and mental well-being.
I had been pondering on so many things this night when this thought and questions crossed my mind ;
Is the night a period of rest?
Does God rest at night?

It of important for me to notice that the first time I read and heard of God's rest was in Genesis 2:2

And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made, and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.

Two things I have noticed there;

  1. GOD ENDED HIS WORK
    In other words, this portrays accomplishment and completion.
  2. AND HE RESTED
    It's to say "God cease or brings to an end".

THE QUESTION IS; IS THE NIGHT A PERIOD OF REST?

Rest is God's creation but night is a name given to darkness.

Gen.1.5 - ......and the darkness he called Night.

From the above analysis easier in Chapter 2, you can't talk of "rest" without "work".

Rest is work ended and work ended is rest.
The night is not a period of rest, sequence to the fact that, so many people in the 21st century work mostly during the night.

THE NIGHT IS THE PERIOD TO SLEEP

Sleep is different from rest.
The first is a break from work in other to work again.
The second is to cease or bring work to an end never to work again.

DOES GOD REST AT NIGHT?

Darkness is as old as the earth, it will always be there even when you rest.

Gen.1.2 - And the earth was without form and void, and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
Gen.1.4 - .......and God divided the light from the darkness.

Examing Gen.2:2 clarifies that God doesn't rest at night but upon work completion.
We saw God work even when the night covered. He didn't rest until His work was completed.
That is why Man who was created in God's image in this sameness doesn't rest until a work is completed, and a purpose is fulfilled, he may take a break when night is covered but that doesn't mean "rest" because even while sleeping his mind is working something.

When you finish your work you sleep resting but a work left undone results in a restless sleep.

GOD HAS GIVEN YOU A WORK AND THAT YOU HAVE TO COMPLETE;

What is your God's given work on earth?
Can you say like brother Paul

I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, ....2Tim.4.7

Until you cover the course, you will never rest.

DEATH IS NOT THE END TO SOME PEOPLE.

Death is the vehicle whose destination is eternity.
Those who enter this vehicle in the Lord "Rest" from work here and after but those who enter this vehicle alone sleep or break from work here to continue the work after.

Literally; Genesis 2:2 is speaking of God's work through Jesus Christ which ended upon His suffering and death; then He rested upon his resurrection to save the man He had made or created.

As many who come to Jesus Christ entered into God's rest.
