Today's Scripture - Ether 12:37

Because thou hast seen thy weakness thou shalt be made strong.

It would seem, from this scripture, that we must acknowledge our weaknesses before we can become strong enough to overcome them. Whether it's acknowledging our propensity to lie in order to make the choice to be truthful or acknowledging our laziness to help us make the choice to become more industrious. Similarly, it's as we acknowledge the weaknesses of our flesh, including mortality itself, that we seek the truth of eternal life.

One of the things that brought me into the Mormon church was the teaching of eternal families. It's not the easiest thing for fundamentalists to accept, but I found myself thinking (often) that if we were only going to get to spend this live in our families, then there really wasn't a whole lot of point in establishing the family! I also had noticed the verse that said that what we bound on Earth, we bound on Heaven, but then, being taught that the thing most bound to me on Earth was somehow dissolved across the veil. For me, it's so much more reasonable, of a loving Heavenly Father, to not only allow our families to continue, but to actively encourage them! As a family, we help each other become stronger as a unit, strengthening our spiritual strength as we follow Heavenly Father together.

As I type, my children have come into the room for the morning, and it's time for me to close this spiritual discussion, but I hope you've gotten something from it. I would love to hear your respectful thoughts on the matter. If you have concerns about Mormon doctrine, the place to take that is to lds.org or mormon.org - they will be able to answer you much better than I.
May Heavenly Father bless you today.
