What do you understand by the term "charity" as a christian? Do you think that it is all about money? How often have you engaged in charitable works that was not made public?
The misconception about charity is one that is born out of human need for praise, recognition and acceptance.
Whenever we help a fellow brother or sister, we want the whole world to know and possibly write a song about it.
Charity is about understanding what your neighbor needs at any given time and be willing to help out regardless of the situation.
An old woman with a heavy load doesn't need your money, she needs help with the heavy load. What about a blind man that wants to cross the road or the depressed that just want someone to talk to.
Can money solve their problems? I think the answer is no.
There are so many things you can do to raise the spirit of your fellow human being. It ranges from the smallest things like greeting to bigger things like financial support.
I am not going to quote the bible here so that you can go search it out YOURSELF and verify it. Always remember that Jesus will ask you on the last day what you did for him when he was sick, when he was hungry, when he was thirsty, when he was in prison and when he was a stranger.
This is an eye opener to the fact that whatever we do in the name of charity, we are doing for and to him.
NOW YOU KNOW THE TRUTH, MAY IT SET YOU FREE. God bless u.
