Holiday Shopping = Crypto Rewards

in #christmas9 days ago

I'm curious how everyone is getting rewarded for their purchases this month. What are some of the creative ways you are getting rewarded for your purchases? I mean if we are going to spend money anyway, shouldn't we be rewarded in return? And for me crypto rewards is a double bonus.

For example, I've started using a third party platform to purchase gift cards to places like Amazon and Home Depot instead of buying directly from Amazon and Home Depot.

Why?

When I buy gift cards I am rewarded with SATS (a fractional amount of Bitcoin) for each gift card purchase. The value of that reward changes with the price of Bitcoin and let me tell you it's been an exciting thing to watch these last few weeks.

Is it "big money" I'm being rewarded with? Nope.

Again, SATS are a fractional amount of Bitcoin so small amounts of value. BUT, I am in essence "stacking SATS" and since I was going to be spending the money at Amazon and Home Depot anyway, why not be rewarded?

I like to think of this as a side door into growing my crypto holdings. It doesn't require me to invest my own money to get started. I am rewarded for purchases I would have made regardless. So by changing my origin purchase destination, I am able to easily get into the crypto space. I've found it to be a low lift and simple way to passively participate in the Bitcoin economy.

Why blog about this topic?

It's a creative exercise to rethink and take a fresh look at what we already do on any given day and consider a different way, a different destination, a different mindset to doing them.

So what are some of the creative reward systems you've found to be earn rewards for something you are doing anyway?

I know you can spend sats with bitrefill. You can get rebates?

Yeah, I'm a fan of Bitrefill too. Bitrefill is my go to when I want to use HBD or Hive to pay for things like a phone bill or get a gift card. Thanks to @brianoflondon's @v4vapp, it's easy to do.

To take fiat (USD) to buy gift cards which rewards me with SATS, I use the FOLD app.

Yes, that is a referral link
No, you are not obligated to use it. The FOLD app is available through the app stores.

The reason I posted this blog post is because I am sure there are other tools/apps that I have no idea about...yet. Sharing a referral link wasn't the point, but it does make sense. I am happy to use someone's referral/affiliate for a tool or app they use that is rewarding their shopping experience. doing already.

So @shainemata, do you have a referral to a tool or app that you've found to be rewarding? If so, please share away.

OK. I've had Fold account for some time. I guess I haven't paid attention to it. I'm going to dust it off and have a look.

Yep, even if you don't use the FOLD card itself and just use the FOLD app like a gift card service, you can earn SATS from purchases.
