It’s the most wonderful time of the year…

The holidays are just around the corner. The most wonderful time of the year, a time that gets us closer to our loved ones, makes us more loving and opens our hearts for more giving. Christmas is the time when people are more opened to listen, to open their hearts, to find the goodness within and sharing it with others.

Even if the date on which Christ was born may not be the 25th of December(there is a great debate over it), it certainly is a huge opportunity to remember and celebrate the coming of the Savior. What bigger celebration than this, Emmanuel – God with us. The almighty God came down to us, not as in the old testament where he used to talk to people through Moses, the high priests, and the prophets. Emmanuel is the most intimate contact God ever established with the human race. It is the beginning of the culmination of his Plan of Salvation promised since Genesis chapter 3.

Christ the Savior was born.

The only begotten Son, the one without sin, the only one capable of defeating the reign of power or sin and death. All because of love(John 3:16, Romans 5:8)

Christians are to be rescuing the true meaning and purpose of Christmas (or Xmas which by the way still includes the name of Christ) by seeing it as an opportunity to share the Good News of hope and joy. God came to us, to save us from our sins and give us eternal life through the supreme sacrifice of Christ. He came closer to us as never before, through Salvation in Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit resides in every believer. This is not something that you get every day, of course, it deserves to be remembered, enjoyed and celebrated like no other feast.

Christmas is about becoming part of a family.

Christmas is about reuniting us with our Creator. I don’t know about your situation, maybe you don’t even have a family to love and appreciate you. I do know each of us needs to fill the emptiness in our hearts and be truly loved. That, my friend, is what God wants to offer you today – becoming part of His eternal family.

“But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons. And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!” So you are no longer a slave, but a son, and if a son, then an heir through God.“ Galatians 4:4-7 (ESV)

If you are already part of God’s eternal family, enjoy this time of opportunity to share about the gospel. If you’re still empty and looking for that thing to really fill you and give you purpose in life, don’t miss the chance to become part of this great family of God. Put your faith in what Jesus did for you on the cross and ask Him to forgive you of your sins and give you eternal life. The greatest gift of all is FREE for us, though it had the biggest cost of all, the life of Jesus Christ. That is the value you and I have before God.
