Christmas Tree in Our Home

Happy Christmas Steemians!
I hope you had a great time getting together with friends and loved ones.

We do not usually celebrate Christmas. We have had our share of the occasional parties, gift exchange, Christmas meals etc., but never a tradition that we follow yearly.

One December day in 2015, some of my friends are talking about setting up Christmas trees at their homes. So I suggested to my husband to do the same. The kids will be happy and most important of all I hope they will look back when they are older and remember the happy times we spent Christmas together as a family.

And so we got our first tree, a 6-footer, nothing fancy. But I have to agree it doesn't look too bad after the ornaments are up. From then on, the kids and the husband will set up the tree every first week of December.

My job?

I rearrange the ornaments and twigs so that they look closer to perfect :)

The gifts will be added to the bottom of the tree a few days before Christmas for I worry that the kids will not be able to resist ripping them apart. This year my 5-year-old started looking at the calendar and asked me how many days to go before it's Christmas day.

We normally open the gifts on Christmas morning but this year my husband went out for a run and only returned close to noon. The kids obediently waited and dressed up and had their photos taken with the tree before they get to open their gifts at around 1 pm. I was impressed at the patience which was unlike their usual selves.

Looking back at the photos we took made me realised just how much they have grown. I am so glad we started this tradition and this will definitely be something that we will be doing in the years to come.

So, how do you celebrate Christmas with your family?

Wow cool to see the other pictures as well! They have grown so much!

Thanks! That’s the idea. Coincidently they sat at the same position every time!
