So, is it hard to make accounts now? Why is this?? Maybe I'll submit my boyfriend's e-mail for an account. He keeps asking me about crypto, and is getting more interested in it. Maybe a Steemit account would help him learn how it works. :-)

It's not hard at all, anyone can create accounts on steeminvite.com - @acidyo gifts the steem needed to create it though!
But you can't just create an account through Steemit itself anymore though? That's the part I'm confused about.
Some people have problems with the verification. and it's faster. Also, when you delegate the steem power yourself instead of using acidyo's gift you can send a personal message with the invitation email.
Oh, okay. Thanks for the explanation. I've been wondering for a while about these 'account making' type services.
