The lead up to Christmas is such a busy time of the year

It is that time of the year again, the lead up to Christmas and the end of the year. Is it just me or is everything on at this time of the year? For those that don't know I live in Australia, so unlike the northern hemisphere where it is now winter, here it is now Summer but it all started back in Spring with the Citrus Sculptures that my boss had kindly put my name down to put up for our business. Each year the City comes to life in Spring as if the city itself had gone to sleep over the winter and then the warmer weather drifts in like a gentle breeze bring everything back to life. The Citrus Sculptures event runs for two weeks and local businesses must get their sculpture down the event area, build it and maintain it for the two weeks before taking it down and returning it to storage. It is a massive event held by our local council and the do a great job of it every year. After a lot of work by myself and a few other team members we were able to enjoy another year of our display being part of the event which even made it on National TV.

And then came Halloween on the 31st of October where we build a Halloween display in our front yard. Not many people decorate their houses so there are not a lot of places to go to for tick or treating and we have been doing it for a few years now and built up a bit of a reputation for it. Every year we get more and more parents bring their kids past. The houses that do do it are scattered around town so everyone drives from house to house, unlike what we see in the movies where they walk between the houses.
Anyways it is a big event for our family and has become a yearly tradition. A lot of time and effort goes into it and a lot of money to buy decorations and lollies each year. Even tough it costs a lot it is a lot of fun for our family and we bet to bring joy to the kids in our city.

These were just events though and not weekly tasks or things that just come up out of nowhere. Touch Football also started up again so every Tuesday I have to run my kids down to the oval to play after work. But one week this got even more difficult as one of my kids wanted to try out for band out of nowhere. So on this particular day I had to run one kid to the oval with my wife, then another to band auditions. Quickly do that and then run back to the oval to play touch. Then I had to go home and cook dinner as It would have been too late to wait until after the game. Once the game was finished I went and picked them up and bring them home for dinner. Wow what effort that was, a massive day for me considering I had worked all day.

And lets not forget the work Christmas party. Yes I somehow got asked to organise this also. I organised dinner out for us, we bought some decorations and the wife even made a cake for it. It was a fun night and I must be getting better at organising as the boss said that we had more people this year for the work Christmas party then ever. Hmmm, maybe I need to start doing a bad job so that she does not ask me all the time 😂. But everyone had fun so I am grateful for this at least.

These are some big days that I have had over the last few months but I have not mentioned all the little things that seem to just pop up this time of year. Not sure if this is just an Australian thing because we are in Summer now but there are just so many things that just pop up around this time of the year. Not to mention that work is very busy this time of year as well. But after Christmas/New Year it will all quiet down and we will go back to normal. I am looking forward to this.

Oh and one more before I go, I had a big day on Saturday just gone I actually did over 40k steps according to my @actifit app. I normally do 20k plus steps daily so this was a big step up for the day. I did not post it as I need to update my app before I can do this but what a big day that was.
