Everyone's got them. Some are odd and some new. One thing is for sure: They are all endearing and special to those who practice them each year.
For my family we have a few that could be described as different.
Beer
It's safe to say my family and I are big beer drinkers. Well, let's be honest, we are generally big drinkers. Nothing that has a negative impact on our lives but we all enjoy a good beer, cocktail, spirit, etc.
Each Christmas the men of my family all bring a large growler of a choice beer (usually a stout or porter) to share amongst the family. This year I have a Bourbon Barrell aged Ginderbread Stout from founders. I can't wait to see what the rest of the Uncles and Grandads have!
Pets

Our animals are a big part of the Christmas Eve tradition. My entire family are big on our pets and show them the love in the evening. Since they like to play with the boxes and chew up the wrapping on Christmas day we give them their gifts on Christmas Eve. This year, I got my cat some toys and a Santa hat that she's sure to hate. For my dog, I got her a steer femur that should take her all of a week to eat.
