As predicted, the UK Government has given the go ahead to vaccinate all healthy 12-15 year olds.
Chris Whitty today endorsed plans to vaccinate healthy 12 to 15-year-olds against Covid, with millions of children due to start getting their jabs from next week.
England's Chief Medical Officer and his counterparts in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland said a secondary school rollout will help prevent further disruptions to education this winter.
Under-16s will initially only be offered a single dose of the Pfizer vaccine, shown to be up to 55 percent effective at preventing infection from the Delta variant. - Mail Online[1]
This comes despite the JCVI decision to not recommend the jab to teenagers.
This also comes on the back of a new study out of the University of California, which concluded that the risk of myocarditis in young vaccinated males is 6 times higher than the risk from COVID-19[2].
Teens will only be given the first dose, the decision to whether to give a second dose won't be decided until early next year.
We imagine the next age group to be targeted for the COVID19 vaccines will be over 6month-year-olds. But, let's wait and see.
