Nope! I'm not talking about soft porn or some sort of dirty fantasy; I'm talking about those movies that are not afraid of showing us humans as they are, without leaving any questions of sort or at least giving us some great answers.
Is it about sexual identity, the search for the truth behind love or just someone living life, sex is a part of human nature and so there you go: 7 movies about love in all his form.
1. The Dreamers
Bertolucci delivers us a movie with no boundaries he tells the story of an American university student in Paris who finds herself between an already burning erotic conflict between a brother and sister.
The movie is about freedom, revolution and the powerful view of life and cinema during the 1968 Paris student riots.
There are many reasons for us to see this movie, one of them is Eva Green.
2. Eyes Wide Shut
Such an important movie this one is, last one ever made by Stanley Kubrick and, needless to say, not your usual movie.
We have two brilliant actors giving their best in this story based on Rhapsody: A Dream Novel, by Arthur Schnitzler; we explore the sexual adventures of Dr. Bill Harford and his relationship with his wife Alice, complicated by an affair she had a year earlier.
Obviously, a must see if you haven't already.
3. The Blue Lagoon
So many negative reviews for this border Pulp movie If you're scared about it just read the novel before diving in it.
The plot is simple: two very small children, find themselves on a tropical island growing up they'll discover love and everything that follows.
Not a bad movie but at the same time not the greatest content.
4. The Piano
Probably my favorite so far (and we already covered Kubrick), this movie is just beautifully made but also incredibly interpreted by Holly Hunter discovering as Ada the meaning of passion and the difference between loving a man and leaving emotional material attachments beyond love.
5. La Pianiste
What's up with piano being such an arousing instrument? Well I don't know why but it works really well; this movie is probably comparable to the previous listed but it goes around a different kind of passion and it doubts of love like a component for this erotic driven drama.
6. Malèna
Set in an italian bigoted town, the movie tells about a growing 13-year-old who fantasizes about a woman named Malena, a lady who gets all the men (and women) attention with her sexy attitude.
Monica Belluci and the mixture of genres makes the movie interesting, the argument is an evergreen and the original direction makes the movie a must-see.
7. Shortbus
If erotism is what you want this movie offers a couple scenes that gives you exactly that, The explicit sex has its function, it makes character deep and human, it shows real life anger, temptation, passion and erotism.
This movie is probably the most "extreme" on the list so you're advised about it.
good list, thank you for sharing! :-)
