I watched the above movie on Netflix yesterday. It's been a long time since I watched a movie without speeding or fast-forwarding. A lot of emotions are rekindled.
Kangana Ranaut is a great actor and she has proved her skill by directing, writing, and acting in this movie. The other supporting actors especially the young boy from Kerala - Visak Nair who started his acting career with the role of Kuppi in the movie - Anandam( such a feel-good movie) have done great justice to their respective roles.
Emergency refers to the dark phase in Indian democracy where people who opposed the congress were jailed and tortured and many people had to go in hiding. I was very small at that time and I do not remember much but I have heard that it was a very bad time for everybody including commoners.
The present generation might not know much about Indira Gandhi at all and I am thankful that this movie has helped in letting people know what a great leader she was. Of course, every politician will have a dark shadow but let us not forget that it was because of her that the country survived the onslaughts of other superpowers and enemies.
I liked that they showed how the East Pakistan war was won and Bangladesh was born.
Anyways, coming back to the movie, we get to see how Indira's son Sanjay Gandhi misuses power. If only he had used righteous methods to help his mother, he could have helped the country a lot more. The intoxication of power was so powerful that it made Indira and her son Sanjay a slave to it. They might have had advisors but I am not sure if they ever listened to them at all.
The scene where Sanjay Gandhi talks about converting Delhi into a cosmopolitan city and how CDelhi is still the world's most polluted city now is very saddening indeed. I wish Delhi and many other states in the north embrace development. It can be done if politicians are willing to do it and the people are willing to maintain it.
The movie shows how political dramas can inspire hate and cause assassinations which later have a huge impact on the general public as well. I remember I was in the eighth grade when the school dispersed and we were taken in the school buses immediately because Indira Gandhi was assassinated and riots had started in our city. The local Punjabis were targeted and the police declared curfew. It was a sad day and people were very unsure about who would lead the country. The Congress party was very strong during those times, unlike today.
Anyway, this movie should be watched by those who do not know who Indira Priyadarshini was. She was a child who suffered from the pangs of pre-independence struggles of her parents and went on to become strong and save the country from those who were trying to destroy the very foundations, It is heartening to note that they included Sam Manekshaw in the movie.
The movie is banned in Bangladesh as per reports and Kangana has a lot of haters in the country as well but as a movie lover, please watch it and appreciate the life of a great leader.
I am sorry if my opinions have hurt the sentiments of readers. It was not my intention and these are just my personal opinions. I have edited out some parts and hope you enjoy the movie.
It is interesting to note that although the national media of any country does not portray public opinion truthfully, present-day Youtubers relay the actual public opinion.
This is a bold statement.

Indira took a great courageous steps, it's interesting to know when people do something to better others, but that lifestyle caused her so many things, i will watch the movie. Thank you friend.
