Yeah I guess they there to keep the ball rolling and keep the money coming into the studios so they can fund the bigger more ambitious projects
Or our need for entertainment just encourages creating these basic movies

Hahaha I think both are possible reasons.
I also only watch these kinds of movies (Romcoms included) just to "kill time". For more creative and artsy movies I'll definitely take my time.
Lol they're great for when you're cooking or doing something else like chores or if you just want to switch your brain off after a day of work
Yes... or like an airplane flight like you've mentioned, although most airplanes have outdated and mainstream movies.
