Toledo is without contest one of the Spanish city I love the best after Granada - and that image alone will tell you why I think. Like Granada,
it was for a time considered as the capital of the country before Madrid definitely took over. I like also that in Spain every city has its own representative artist. For Granada, it's without doubt Federico Garcia Lorca. For Malaga, it's Picasso. For Barcelona, it's Gaudi. As for Toledo, the most emblematic artist of the city has the name of Doménikos Theotokópoulos - not very Spanish indeed, and that's because he was Greek, which explains why he is most commonly known as El Greco. This guy had a singular destiny and his painting style has without doubt marked the history of Art.

John Constable lived in my home town for a while and was very prolific while he was here. Does that count? Brighton and Hove is more famous for musicians and bands than painters!

Oh yes, Toledo was famous for its metal engineering... In French, "une lame de Tolede" means a sword forged in Toledo out of the best blacksmith :) Have a good night too!
This city has it's own style for sure, you can see it from the buildings. Of course El Greco is indeed its most emblematic artist!
