In summer of 2008 I went the first time in my life on a plane. I flew to NYC and spend a fabulous 10 days in this city. When i read about this old asylum/hospital Island in the East River called Roosevelt Island, I know I had to pay it a visit. Alone the procedure of reaching the island is worth the journey: You can pick a tramway! It originates from the 2nd Ave., so you get quite a good view from above the roads on Manhattan as well. The island itself was quite interesting for me, but some might value what you can see differently. One thing I won't forget was the quietens of this place. Especially when coming directly from Manhattan this seems to bee the calmest place on earth. Well worth the visit for me.
