Bisbee, Arizona
It seems fitting that the city of Bisbee is cut into and embraced by the surrounding Mule Mountains. These are the mountains that provided the gold, silver and copper that became the reason for the town's very existence. Bisbee was founded in the 1880's when metal rich ore was first discovered there. As mining prospered, so did the town. When mining ceased in the 1970's, Bisbee reinvented itself, as a thriving arts community. It is well worth a visit, if you are ever in southeastern Arizona.
