1968 VW Fastback!!
In my actifit report of yesterday, I mentioned that I went on a classic car drive, and that I would do a post on the run. Before I however get to the classic car run post, I will do a post on my car, with which I went on the run.
My classic car, is a 1968 VW Fastback. On Saturday, I washed the car and later on polished it as well. All these photos were taken, before I polished her.
This car has a nice history, as it was bought new by my grandfather in 1968!! I was 5 years old at the time. My mother tells me that when my grandfather brought the car home, I told him the the car was very beautiful, and he then promised me, that one day, he will give the car to me. I then inherited the car in 1988, and has now promised the car to my daughter.
I did repaint the car, but the interior (Except for the carpets) are still original.
One of the interesting features of these cars, were that they had a boot in front and at the back!!
This was achieved, due to the car having a flat engine located at the rear of the car, under the boot floor.
Below is the view from the drivers seat.
The vehicle still has a lot of its, original documentation, which is very nice.
Below is the service card from the VW dealer. Just look at the service cost in Rand!! (Today a $=R16.67)
Below is the accessory catalog, quite different than what we are used to these days.
I really love this old car, and it makes me smile every time I drive it.
I hope you enjoyed the post.
Stay Safe!
