Why Clinton's Email Server Matters to Me-- and why it should matter to YOU

I grew up the child of a federal employee, which means I grew up in a federal office after hours and on weekends. When high school rolled around, I volunteered and worked for that same federal office. Most of my work centered around a human resources and the personnel office. That's right, I was the person checking IDs, processing I-9s, and helping with W2s. So, suffice it to say, paperwork matters. The ideas espoused with ink, awaiting agreement via signature and date have more than symbolic meaning; it's the agreement of laws and stipulations that help keep a society civilized. Once rules are arbitrarily forgotten or ignored, the breakdown of society occurs; rot from the inside out.

Specifically when that paperwork bears a signature indicating the person read through, and understood the terms they would be held accountable; terms they agreed to abide by.

One of the more important forms is SF312 - the standard form classified information non disclosure agreement. The thing about that particular behemoth, is that one gets literally schooled by a couple of FBI agents as they go through each clause before hopeful employee gets to lay their John Hancock on the document (which is then scanned and shown because FOIA, people. FOIA.)

That means when Hillary Clinton signed this form, she did so after being schooled by the FBI on the fact that they were fucking serious. Otherwise, what's the point of the FBI to educate one on the finer points of paperwork?

Doubt me? Here's the training manual. Have fun reading it.

So, we have an established politician, who was educated and agreed to abide by the terms of the NDA she signed.

And then she proceeds to shit on the NDA in so many ways, putting national security at risk.

If you think having sensitive communications on an unauthorized, unsecured server is okay, then why don't you write your credit card number, expiration date, and CVV code on every building you come across, because it's a lot like that. All you need is one bad actor willing to push as far as they can with the information they possess to ruin one's day.

But what is worse than negligence is the blatant not giving a shit by Clinton and co. Here are some highlights; the Thompson Timeline is a wealth of information. The medium timeline is 13 pages long, and these are just snippets from the first 4 pages.

Think about this; a server housing sensitive information from entities such as the CIA, at the Clinton Foundation headquarters. If this doesn't anger you, picture it with the Trump Foundation instead, and then you'll get the picture.

Right before the election, I wrote this:

If we're going to arrest and imprison military members for taking selfies in submarines, yet ignore when the Secretary of State willingly shares information with a person non grata (Blumenthal) AND has a vulnerable server and doesn't implement improvements that would make it more secure, thus putting national security at risk and enable said bad choices... and you wonder why people get pissed about her email server?

It's the embodiment of a two-tier, preferential system. The lords and ladies get away with shenanigans whilst the peons are held accountable.

Sort:

be aware that not all steemers are from USA!!
she could be using the email in a public library for what i care..

True, not all steemers are from the USA. But I counter with the point that America's Secretary of State has their fingers in many pies across the world by virtue of their office.

Sovereign nations don't usurp themselves, after all.

Excellent post, thanks for sharing!

You write with conviction and truth. Good on you.

I am having trouble reading this post. I think the bleach byte is effecting my hard drive. LOL. Great article
