Tangku is a small town sheltered inside the first ben of the Hai River, about 5 kilometres from the sea. The first to be estabilished were a number of pilots, living in a "ship-shape little colony of mud huts" known as Pilot Town. A dock was built in 1885 for repairing Chinese warships. Tangku received a major boost when the Kaiping railway was extended there in 1887.
The delightful Tangku south railway station was built in 1888. It is now the oldest existing station in China. Near the old station there are a number of brick British-style building dating from 1890s and they join the surrounding building site in Yujiapu CBD now.

塘沽原本是一个小镇,位于距海河入海口5公里的第一道湾处。1885年为修理海军军舰,塘沽修建了一个码头。随着开平煤矿和唐胥铁路的修建,塘沽总站(现塘沽南站)在1888年修建并投入使用。在于家堡中央商务区西侧,塘沽南站就安静地在那里。
这座英式风格的站房已经走过了130个年头。她是中国铁路现存历史最悠久的火车站,也是中国第一条铁路上的一座重要车站。詹天佑也曾在这里工作过。
我在上大学时曾无数次来过塘沽看同学,但是第一次拍塘沽南站却是在2010年。那时我从天津火车站坐621路到终点,下车就是塘沽南站。我走进去,里面并没有工作人员。我一直沿着铁路向东走,看到一个师傅在准备调车,我们随后攀谈几句,他告诉我可以去东边的三百吨站拍拍,天津港也挺有意思的。我就按照他的话一直向东走,拍了很多照片。

后来在2012、2013我有多次拍摄塘沽南站。2015年京津城际延长线于家堡站开通后,我就再没去过那儿了。
