My coach motivates in a way that depresses me rather than gets me amped. His method is more disparaging. For example he says things like: "I dont like the way these numbers look. Why are we such a bad team on paper? You guys are not giving enough."
He counters by saying he knows we are stronger and that we can do better, but my brain can't move past the negative things that he says about me. It's also frustrating because my training style is completely different from how it was in HS and currently I am worse than I used to be. I think he's a decent coach, but many of us haven't bested our times since HS. I think that's more a reflection on him but he tries to make it out to seem like we "aren't giving enough" and should just try harder.
Idk. It's just frustrating to have my coach try and put all the blame on me. Why would I be here if I wasn't trying? I spend 30 hours a week on this sport and he has the audacity to say that I should just "give more" and "believe"? I'm giving my all, otherwise I would just quit and focus more on my studies.
