You might be wondering what are the crimes that barista makes when making coffee?

I will explain what are those and how we are shamefully committed to these crimes.

I remember when I was a kid. I hate eating vegetables and always throw them or just playing on it until my mom gets upset and forces me to eat it.

Very much the same situation of any barista around the world.

So, Here is the list of crimes we Barista shamefully make.

  1. Extra Hot - For us Barista we have our standard of what is the best temperature that will make a perfect coffee. In our shop we have a standard of 150°C up to 160°C, of course, this standard does not apply to all coffee shop in the world but there is no coffee shop that set a standard of more than 180°C in coffee. It's a road to hell and it will ruin the taste of the coffee.

The crime starts when you have a customer asking for extra hot and no other choice but to do it. As for me. That's the cruelest crime I face almost every day. No matter what type of hot coffee you ordered and requested to make it extra hot, believe me as a barista my heart crumbles.

  1. Cappucino without foam - Most of you are familiar with this coffee. Cappucino has a lot of milk foam, almost half of the cup is filled with milk foam. That's why it's considered strong coffee than a latte.

I experienced one of my customers ordered a cappuccino and even educating the customer, What exactly and How much is inside in the cappuccino. The amount of coffee, steam milk, and milk foam was part of my explaining, later on, this customer requested a cappuccino with very little foam and I suggested "How about getting a latte?" And the customer said, "No Thanks" just make it cappuccino without foam. 🤣 after hearing that, my heart and my mind are about to explode and I really wanted to laugh so hard but I couldn't.

My explanation was useless and believe me it's not the first time I encounter this type of situation and that's the crime we commit shamefully. Making people coffee by breaking our own standard and calling it the same. 😂

As a barista no matter what the situation is I never stop educating people or my customers about coffee, be it online or offline. I still respect those customers despite their ignorance.

That's it for now folks and have a nice day. I hope you learn something in this post.

Note: Don't order a cappuccino without foam and ask for a latte or flat white instead if you want a less foam in your coffee. ✌
