RE: Bulletproof Coffee: Perfect Breakfast or Fad?

in #coffee6 years ago

No BP coffee for me! Coffee of any kind gives me the jitters.

But I am currently sipping on my keto breakfast smoothie made with coconut cream, MCT oil, cod liver oil, hemp oil, egg yolk, bone broth protein powder, raw cacao, a small amount of whole food vit c powder, some mineral drops and a dash of chocolate stevia. Although it tastes quite pleasant and is nearly 600 calories (roughly 24% protein, 69% fat, 7% carbs), which can see me through about 4 hours, psychologically it sometimes isn't as satisfying as solid food.

Yesterday I experimented with making some breakfast muffins with ground macadamias, bone broth protein powder, vanilla powder, lakanto (monkfruit & erythritol), eggs, MCT oil and 1 raspberry plus 4 tiny sugar free chocolate bits per muffin. They are rather sticky and chewy, with a rather overwhelming taste of bone broth protein. So not what you might call delicious, but edible. Next time, I think I'll add a bit of cacao and replace some of the bone broth protein with hydrolysed gelatin.

I've had some family commitments, and have two trips in the next two weeks, but after that, must get back to posting my keto series. All sorts to report!

Sounds good! I'm not a fan of bone broth (expensive, and I dont have time to make it, plus - can't always cope with meat). I love smoothies but as you say, sometimes you need something more satisfying. Maybe I'll go back to boiled eggs with seeds and an oil dressing and a bulletproof turmeric latte - yeah!! That's tomorrow's brekky sorted!!!

Ooh, that sounds good.
