Here we have the new 2017 £1.00 coin. It shows stretching marks just above the Leek as a result from being struck twice in the minting process. Usually these coins would be set to one side to be recycled. The minting prorocess is second to none and accepts no other than flawless upon its release however, in some rare cases some do pass quality control and enter into circulation thus making them desirable to collectors.
In (fig2) you can see more evidently the tell tale signs of a miss strike by looking at the outer line of Queen Elizibeth's head and crown there is a raised edge that is not present on (fig3). I have also noticed the positioning of the crown to be off center wich could also indicate the coin blank was not seated properly prior to being struck by the die.
Every coin has a unique flaw and some stand out more than others but a miss struck coin in circulation is a rarity and some can be worth up to ×500 times their face value.
Here in (fig4) we can see the crown breach the center piece and into the outer and to compare its true alignment we can see in(fig5) showing its true position.
While checking my change after this find I also found this beautiful coin I have not seen in a while that was also missing in my collection up until now was this Marconi, 1st wireless transmission £2.00 coin that had a value of £2.00-£4.00 to a collector boasting a 50-100% increase in value.
