My guess is that most Steemians have owned bitcoin before and probably already have a coinbase account. This post is for new readers I am hoping to attract to Steemit.com.
I got an email from Coinbase and GDAX and saw their tweet, basically saying, “invest responsibly.”
Casinos say “play responsibly.”
The rule is do not invest more than you can afford to lose.
If you want a $10 Bitcoin bonus when funding your account with at least $100, please use my referral link here when signing up to Coinbase: https://www.coinbase.com/join/5388cf8a5aeb3c8461000016. We will each get a bonus.
I am generally bullish on Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies. I pulled a lot of money off the table this week with the crazy upswings in value.
Bitcoin at $16,278 is up nearly 47% this week!
Buy low, sell high. I am waiting for blood on the streets.
If you do not know who Nicehash is, then you should probably not be buying Bitcoins until you read more news and analysis.
My general thesis is as follows and I hope to elaborate more when I have time:
There is a need for a global currency not tied to any one government or bank ( but how do we know Satoshi Nakamoto though is not the Federal Reserve, CIA, or something similar from another non-U.S. government?)
Cryptocurrencies have the potential to disrupt traditional startup equity distributions – but, read the whitepaper and/or the bluepaper, and ask “does this coin solve a problem?” and “what value does it offer beyond speculation?”
Bitcoin, as the first, and I believe most widely distributed cryptocurrency, is the gateway coin into other cryptocurrencies. For example, it would be hard to invest in Solar Coin (Jeff wants to support solar energy production!) if you do not own bitcoin first.
So as Coinbase says, “invest responsibly” and also DYR (do your research) – a note to both myself and friends interested in this exciting new technology.
I love how coinbase had to send out a PSA. This is akin to "please gamble responsibly"
My thoughts were the same
You’ve got to give credit to a company that makes money from this kind of behavior but actually warns against it.
