To keep your Steem Power safe you must keep your "owner key" and "master password" in several cold storage. They can not be recovered.
If you have them, you can just take back your account if something happens.
If you check your wallet at least once a week to see that there is no "powering down" that is not yours, you are safe.
The only time people lost something here is when they lost "master password" and "owner key".
If you have them, you use "Stolen Accounts Recovery" in the menu.
