Today is February 15 and it got as warm as 73 degrees.
Needless to say I was outside without a jacket and I was comfortable. Later in the evening I stepped out and when I came back in an older guy said I need to be careful stepping out when its warm in the winter cause this is "pneumonia weather". I was thinking that couldn't possibly be true. Mere weather change would cause pneumonia? So I did a little research.
Pneumonia is actually caused be a bacteria. The chances of you getting it when you immune system is weak is higher. Sudden weather changes could weaken the immune system as it adapts which could make you sick but not likely cause pneumonia. It's best to wash your hands frequently and open the doors to get fresh air every now and then.

I also found extra information that debunked common misconceptions about pneumonia
Pneumonia is really just a bad cold.🤧
In fact, it’s much worse. Pneumonia is an infection of your lungs that can require antibiotics or treatment in a hospital. A “common cold” usually lasts a few days or perhaps a week or two, and causes a runny nose, sore throat, sneezing and coughing. Pneumonia, on the other hand, kills more than 50,000 Americans and more than 1 million children worldwide each year.
The good news is that pneumonia is preventable and treatable with a host of proven interventions, including exclusively breastfeeding infants in their first six months of life, ensuring an environment free of indoor air pollution and promoting frequent handwashing (protection); immunizing against pneumonia’s leading causes (prevention); and ensuring access to medical care and antibiotics when cases do emerge (treatment). That’s why we need to ensure these interventions are available in developing countries, where 98 percent of pneumonia deaths occur.
Pneumonia only affects old people.
Here in the United States, we tend to think of pneumonia as a disease that only affects elderly individuals, hospitalized adults or people with weakened immune systems. A closer look at the statistics about those who are actually at the highest risk for pneumonia may surprise you. Worldwide, pneumonia takes the lives of more young children than any other disease, and is responsible for up to 18 percent of the world’s annual child deaths.
Infants and young children with weakened or compromised immune systems are at higher risk, often because their of their weaker natural defense against infection. Or their immune system might have been stripped away by disease, chronic illness or lack of adequate nutrition.
In developing countries, these circumstances are further compounded for children who become sick with pneumonia and don’t have access to proper medical care.
In wealthier countries however, health care is accessible, childhood nutrition standards are high and vaccines are in routine use. As a result, childhood deaths from pneumonia are extremely low. That being said, adults of all ages here in the United States and elsewhere can increase their protection against pneumonia by getting their influenza vaccines. Adults over age 65 and those with one or more risk conditions should get the pneumococcal polysaccharide
Pneumonia doesn’t affect healthy people.
While serious illness and deaths from pneumonia are more common in individuals with weakened or compromised immune systems, pneumonia can affect anyone. There have been cases of healthy fit individuals who got infected.

Pneumonia causes inflammation in your lungs air sacs, or alveoli. The alveoli is filled with fluid or pus, making it difficult to breathe. The most common symptoms of pneumonia are:Cough (with some pneumonias you may cough up greenish or yellow mucus, or even bloody mucus),Fever, which may be mild or high,Shaking chills,Shortness of breath, which may only occur when you climb stairs, additional symptoms include:Sharp or stabbing chest pain that gets worse when you breathe deeply or cough, headache, excessive sweating and clammy skin,Loss of appetite, low energy, and fatigue,Confusion, especially in older people viruses bacteria and mycoplasmas[these are bacteria without a cellwall meaning most anti biotics will be ineffective in fact any drug targeting cell wall synthesis will be in effective] cause pneumonia ,i love this stuff
i am a medical doctor in the making so unless you have a Phd in microbiology this is free knowledge
Thanks for sharing.
please do a post on GIT try associating it with obesity causes complications and diagnosis
tackle laparoscopic and bariatic surgery
In the past days, the weather have been favorable, as I havent gone out with a jacket in the past few days. Although I dread pneumonia and I try to take necessary precautions.
What precautions do you take personally?
I just drink teas like lemongrass, ginger and honey and eat fruits
I'm a bit tired of hearing the cold does not cause the cold truism. Sure, common cold is caused by a virus. But the stress, as you write, say, of exposure to cold can weaken one's immune system and make one more susceptible to infectious diseases. I remember spending a few minutes at -20 C just because I was too lazy put on a jacket one Christmas and succumbing to a bad case of cold. I think it's likely that the stress of shivering in the frigid outdoors for a few minutes was enough to tip the balance in favor of the virus that time. I must have been infected already but my body might have been able to fight it off and prevent any symptoms without that stupid trip to the storage outside without getting properly dressed.
I was talking about a warm winter. Do you think one has to be dresssed warm on a hot day during the winter?
I thought you were talking about changing weather. Sorry, if I made a mistake.
Specifically warm weather because I stepped out in warm weather yesterday without a jacket and someone said I could get pneumonia. Supposedly warm days in winter causes people to catch pneumonia.
Well, that was certainly a strange thing of that someone to say.
Isn’t this a relatively new vaccine in the states? I am actually watching a YouTube video to get informed more about the vaccinations children are getting in the States. I won’t say when I got my vaccinations but there is about 5 times as many and they group them in one shot. How do you feel about this and do you think there is cause for concern?
I'm not a doctor and I'm not sure, but on my job they make you take vaccinations before you can work.
take care of yourself this winter. Pneumonia is longer lasting than the cold and flu. It can leave you out of circulation for a month or even in a hospital..
It is deadlier than a cold for sure. I don't think awarmer winter day will cause pneumonia by its self though.
Que paso con el reto de 365 días al año amiga?
