River of five colors-that's what they call in Colombia, the river Cano Cristales. The source of the river is in the Macarena mountain range. Flows Kano Cristales East of the mountains and flows into the river Guayabero. The river is quite peculiar.
In the dry season it can be a small stream in the sun-scorched bed, and in the rainy season it is quite a powerful stream. But there is a special time (the very beginning of spring — at this time the period of rains is replaced by a period of heat), when the river literally glows with all the colors of the rainbow. There is a belief that moyas are endowed with healing power and are able to bring happiness. Travelers always try to swim in them. They say that these wells immerse people in Nirvana and reveal the secrets of existence.
In the rainy season, the river is not much different from the other rivers of Colombia, except that the crystal clear water, because of which it is called the Crystal River (so translated name Kano Cristales). Another unsolved mystery of the river – the composition of the water. There are practically no salts and minerals in it. We can say that the river water is almost distilled, so it is unfit for drinking. The road to the river caño Cristales is quite difficult (first you need to fly by plane, then sail by boat, and then another and Wade through the jungle on foot.), but it does not deter thousands of tourists visiting the river during its maximum "flowering". The river is available for tourists from June to November.
