This is one of my favorite beer photos and I use it frequently, it's the header photo on the beer47 social profiles as well as the header photo for the beer47 blog. It is a photo of Russian River Brewing's Pliny the Younger from 2011. After standing in line for three hours for this "whale" of a beer, we sampled the it and it was definite worth the wait.
Every year Russian River brews a limited batch of what was probably the first Triple IPA. (Just like Pliny the Elder was one of if not the first double IPA). Younger is only offered for about 5-10 days per year, at the beginning of February, at the brewery and a few select locations (like Monk's Kettle, Toronado, Falling Rock, and others). If you wait at the brewery, there is always a long wait but everybody there is excited to be there and it is a very jovial atmosphere. It's definitely one of those things to put on your craft beer bucket list!

Where were you drinking it at??? Are you CA based?
I'm in San Francisco, it's on my profile 😁. This photo was at the brewery, in 2011.
But I had Younger this year at the SF Beer Week Opening Gala. I was on the tennis court when I got an alert that it was at Monk's Kettle 4 blocks from where I was playing ... I played tennis instead.
Nice! When I hear “Pliny”, I recall about the iconic Pliny the Elder! Wow... this one probably is great too!
It is. I guess I should have added a few more details. Time for an edit!

We think "BEER" should actually be an official color, CHEERS ! Resteemed to our page !!
Yep, standing in that 3 hour (or longer) line is definitely on my bucket list of things to do in general! Who'd have thought I'd have a line up on my bucket list?! Haha. I've only got my hands on the Elder once. It was pretty tasty, but more iconic than anything. Nowadays I feel like there are many beers that are as good or better. But it's an OG!
Hopefully I'll be in Vancouver near the end of August. If I am, I might have some Elder with me. 🍻
Oooo i'd be a happy camper and obviously have some good stuff to trade off. Think you'd make it over to Victoria? Either way, I'd cross the water for that! 🍻
