Hello everyone,
Let me introduce you to a great Steemian and contributor to my daily 200 SBD 7 World's Continents Photo Challenge, an amazing photographer @intrepidphotos. Let's give him some recognition and a shout out. In combination with the color challenge, it is a great place to highlight his photo skills and give his hard work some extended publicity and appreciation.
For today's color challenge I picked his entry below:
A rare 'blood' Aurora fills the sky across the Northern Rockies. Red or ‘blood' aurora’s are created by oxygen atoms at an altitude of between 200–500 km (120-300miles) colliding in a high energy state and emitting red light at 630 nm. In contrast the more common green aurora are oxygen atoms at a lower altitude of 70-200km (40-120 miles) and lower energy state emitting light at 557.7 nm. In most cases to see a red aurora you need an extremely dark sky and to be looking from a lower latitude across the top layers of a distant high latitude aurora.

Is the colorchallenge one of your contests?
I pick one of the contestants from my 7 Word's Continents Photo Challenge on daily basis to give that Steemian additional exposure and upvote. Works out pretty well and gets some decent views. Tomas
Thanks for the answer Tomas!
and another question seeing that you have time to reply to minnows is: Do you sometimes make a central america photo contest?
Thanks!
Lucian
PS: thanks for the contests!!! :)
Which countries are you talking specifically? There is/was always some confusion in those regards so I am mainly accepting them for South American Saturday! Good question, thank you.
Im talking about panama, costa rica, nicaragua, honduras and guatemala. There are more but those are the ones I've visited...
So for next south america day I'll consider them.
Thanks! :)
Amazing capture! Thanks for this post!

i saw auroras quite often too when I worked in Northern Alberta, but they were all green .....I've never seen a red one before.
