One of the things I really like about glass is its impermanence... it basically starts out as sand, we process it into vessels, the vessels break and gradually the glass goes back to becoming sand.

That's a great point about glass. I like glass, too. If only silica didn't take so much energy to melt, and if glass was as light as plastic reduce the energy cost of shipping. It really is a wonderful substance.
