Cuba makes sense, I hear you! I am now living in Nanaimo, but might make a road trip up that way to visit with an area of our world that is still highly vibrating and breathes wilderness. Salmon Glacier is stunningly power a sight as you stand 800 meters above it when you are parked straight in front of it. Now, I want to make a post about the last trip up there... Soon! stay tuned.
Namaste :)
Nice. I am based about 40 min outside of Prince George on a lake for the moment.
I spent a bit of time out in the area and it would take you about 9 to 10 hours to get to the glacier. Since there area quite a few mosquitoes, I'd make sure to bring to bring extra hard word to burn on top and camp up just behind the location where you are facing the glacier. This way, you keep the skitters as far away as can be done, very tough up there as they are worse than vampires, and to top it all it would keep you and the rare few who dare to spend the night up there to stay warm and cosy for a few hours, hopefully. You can see northern lights often, just make sure to walk away from the fire and let your eyes rest away from its light for a while and you'll see them come up, from a 2-5 o'clock position at about 30 degree up, as you are facing the glacier. Hearing the creaking and cracking of the glacier moving forward in the summer as well as the avalanches is something else too...
Namaste :)
