Well I had this one until 4 years ago. These pictures testify to it. But, 6 months after this picture I gave it away to the first person answering my add. It was at the time I got rid of it 6 1/2 feet tall and it was not a winter plant. So every fall I had to literally drag it in and carefully tip it to get it in the door. This was a ritual every fall I got tired of being stuck by the thorns. So It was either me or the cactus.
Guess who won?
But I did hate to see the guy go... It was a gem. And that was the first time it flowered was that last year. I had it for ever. But, it started growing 2 feet a year.

This is my poor excuse of a cactus, it is about 20 years old and it lives in sunny Lancashire so it never sees any sun, none of us do; the sun comes out once a year and we either hide or shout and throw our shoes at it, but yea its a bit lobbed sided and needs to rest against the wall or it will topple over but i love the prickly little fellow.
Wow... (seems like it should break off at the neckline) Mine was big like that but it had arms that reached up like it was in a bank heist. It didn't have so many spines with the thorns as your s does. I suppose it stays cold and dark much of the year where you live. I really enjoy our conversations. If it were another life and time... It would be so wonderful to be able to be neighbors or at least close enough to laugh in person... I want to stay friends with you even if this platform were to dismantle, (heaven forbid) you are a gem of a person.
