It's still Sunday for much of the world! The color challenge tag seems to be Sundaypurple right now.
Purple does tie together some of my recent macro shots of butterflies and other small wonderful creatures.
A Pale Grass Blue butterfly drinks deep from a geranium blossom.
Its proboscis is fully uncoiled allowing the butterfly to drink the sweet nectar held deep within the blossom. I think it has lovely eyes as well!

I'm not sure if this is a moth or butterfly, I'm leaning towards moth though. It displays an amazing pink colour even when the wings are closed as they are in this picture.
I really encourage you to enlarge the picture to see the detail on the antennae and wings!
A tiny black ant was also exploring the geraniums, it's quite small, can you spot it?
A little bolder it peers over the edge of the flower to see what lies on the other side:
I wonder what it experiences as it crawls on, in and around the sweet blossoms many times it's own size?
Not so much purple in these last two shots of but if you check the wing, there is a purple eye spot!
Again I urge you to enlarge the picture to see the detail of the coiled proboscis and the luxurious fur coat the butterfly has covering its body!
It must be interesting to be able to drink from a cup down at your feet as you stand watch for threats:
Thank you for taking time to view the post, I hope you enjoyed it as much as I enjoy sharing the small beautiful details of our world!

I'll check it out soon!
Really need to view them full-screen to fully appreciate!Stunning macro work @mweich, I wish mine were as sharp as these :)
Thanks @shieha! I find that lots of light helps, as well as using a macro lens, it made a big difference when I started using the macro vs a telephoto.
Yes, the markdown for linking the full sized image is really only a few keystrokes so I've started to do that as default, I'm very glad you noticed and commented about that!
You're welcome! I need more practice with macro ;)
I look forward to seeing the pictures! :)
I just posted one about my first ever jumping spider!
Just went and checked that out, very nice shot!

Good eyes! :P
Thanks for the support!
Such beauty just came to look at them again I'm thrilled by these photos
That really is wonderful to hear! :D
Where is the color challenge tag? I'm so new. Today I posted a picture of some really strange blindedfolded and masked horses, but they were eating green grass. If the color challenge was green, would that count?
By the way I could stare at that butterfly all day.... Well maybe not day, but it is really eye catching.
The color challenge thing isn't so much of a contest but rather a general theme that people can participate in if they wish. Different colours for different days; it's just for fun, so there aren't many rules as to what would qualify, it sounds like the grass would be green in the picture you described so...sure, I think it would be fine.
I did stare at the butterfly for quite some time trying to get a good shot of it!
Ok, well I appreciate you doing this regardless. It is fun and "challenging". I know what you mean about Butterflies.. I have been there, done that. Today it was with bees, which I am highly allergic to. Now that was a challenge but I got a good shot and posted it.
It's not my challenge but I sometimes participate.
Colorchallenge @kalemandra is the person who originally issued the challenge, Here's the post about that
I've got a touch of apiphobia (not allergic though) but through macrophotography I'm much less fearful of bees now. The Giant Hornets on the other hand .... yeah, they freak everyone out, for good reason too.
Bee careful and carry your (overexpensive) epipen!
Very nice photo. Beautiful flowers.
Thank you! Ironically, these geraniums receive very little in the way of care; they are thriving though, very hardy plants!
Yes I know. They tolerate everything.
It's already Monday for me but woohoo.... it's a holiday here.
The last shot is like "Stop, staring at me"
Nice, I've got to work on this Monday.
Yeah, the butterfly was losing patience as I was stalking it for a good 20 minutes. :p
Phenomenal works. Love the butterfly, with the straw. Never thought about it that way. Have a nice night.
Thanks! Haha, they're a bit like flying elephants!
That second moth (I think it's a moth too) looks very interesting creature with the strong colour on the wings and green eyes. And it's so beautifully symmetrical!
Indeed, it didn't make very good camouflage!
awesome macro. i like the butterfly shot :)
Thank you very much @digitalis!
Your Always welcome, my friend :)
Totally amazing shots. My butterfly pics are amateur compared to these. Just adore them. Awesome job.
Thank you! Keep at it, persistence and experimentation are key!
You find insects with beautiful colors, the pink moth is so beautiful, I can not find it in my place. Great shots.
I imagine you can find something even more colorful, Aceh seems like there would be many different kinds of insects!
It seems so, I need to explore Aceh more.
