Nostalgia at it's finest.

I grew up in California and the beach was only around 15 minutes away from my house so going to the beach was nothing new to us. Where I lived, summers were extremely hot! So hot that heatwaves were already visible on the almost asphault roads. I remember a day when it reached around 110°F and my brothers and I wanted to go to the beach so badly but couldn't so we ended up playing with the lawn sprinklers in our backyard instead. Haha

I remember every summer vacation, going to the public park pools was almost an everyday activity, and almost every other weekend, our family friends would get together and plan a beach outing. My birthday was also during the summer so lucky me, there were more reasons for my family to hit the beach. So you can only imagine how much sunburn I would have all the time and how tan I was when I was younger! Haha. Good times, good times!

My family and I moved to the Philippines way back in 2005 and ended up settling down here in Baguio City. For those of you who don't know, Baguio City is a beautiful city up in the mountains of the Cordilleran region and is known for the its cool weather and long rainy seasons. I enjoyed the cool weather and being a blanket burrito especially during the rainy season but I never thought I'd miss being able to go to the beach all the time and sunny weather.

Going to the beach for me is not just a place for relaxation and unwinding. Going to the beach brings back so many of my childhood memories, it brings back all the times my family used to spend together, the times I had with all my old friends back in California, and the stress-free feeling of being a kid again that I miss so much. It gives me time to reminisce on how things used to be and even just for a little while, I get to be that carefree kid at heart again. ❤
