This is my entry for #ColorChallenge: Wednesday Yellow initiated by @kalemandra, and inspired by @dswigle as always!
It's my first day back at work today, after a nice holiday. While I wish I could be on holiday forever, I do have work to do and look forward to the year.
While taking a walk around the shop today, I noticed this most amazing brass and crystal chandelier. It's always been one of my favourites in the shop, but today, my team were moving it to a different spot in the shop, and I thought it was so incredibly perfect.
I snapped some pics for you to see. While not yellow, for today's #colorchallenge, but gold, I thought was still appropriate.
It's a very old French chandelier, cast in brass. Originally, it would not have had the crystals, but my team added some Asfour crystals to glam it up. We chose the French cross shape (the crystal that looks like an upside down cross), versus the traditional teardrops, as the chandelier itself is very bulky, and we didn't want to over power the frame with heavy crystals.
I particularly like this light because it has a certain delicateness within the heaviness. I love the juxtaposition between the heavy, in your face frame, and the pretty little crystals. I also love how the crystals are clustered around the light, rather than dangling too low down.
I can picture this light over a French dining table, maybe made from cherry or walnut, or anther type of light wood, in a large, elongated dining room, with velvet, burgundy drapes and heavy, plush Persian carpets on the floor. Okay, okay, I am getting carried away, I know!!
Tell me where you see this beautiful chandelier? Would you place it in a modern setting, or would you just never buy something like this? Can't wait to hear your ideas!
Love the light in the first shot and thats sure a beautiful Chandelier, looks like it should be in some fancy foyer somewhere
Absolutely! Sad it hasnβt been sold yet π’
That is sad
Wow ! That is a stunning chandelier
thanks pal!
I feel like you'd see this in the VIP access hall for pre-party drinks and canapes at Grand West Casino or like some hotel, the gold finish just gives me that vibe.
