San Juan de Gaztelugatxe, whose name means "rock castle" in Euskara ("gaztelu" = castle + "aitz" = rock), is definitely a must see if you come to the Basque Country. It is an island as small as impressive, located on the coast of Bizkaia, 35 km east of Bilbao. The island is cone shaped and at its highest point stands a small hermitage dedicated to John the Baptist. Although not proven, it is said that he came to set foot on this island.
