What is this? Well, its purple and its smaller than you think. It live is the Pacific Northwest and feed on algae that gives it its colour. Its colour provides a warning to possible predators not to coming looking for a lunch.
This brilliantly coloured creatures is a Colourful Dendronotus, Dendronotus diversicolor. These larger than average nudibranchs inhabit the temperate waters along the coast of British Columbia.
Beautiful to photograph due to their colour and easy to spot on the reef.
Thanks for reading.

This colorful Dendronotus are very unique creature.
I think it is a sea slug species Dendronotus, perhaps Dendronotus albus.
Hope I am right.
The first shot is so ethereal it appears to be a strange drawing photo-shopped into a seascape. What an odd creature! The second photo gives it a bit more credibility as something other than a purple ghost fish. It is common to you, but not to many - thanks for revealing this phantom!
