Color Challenge - Sunday Purple - Lavender

in #colorchallenge7 years ago

The bees have been busy in our garden this weekend. They seem to really love the lavender we have planted in the front yard.

The Australian bee population has managed to avoid some of the deadly diseases that have been killing off bee populations in other countries. Hopefully the isolation of this big island of ours will continue to keep our bees safe from disease.

We have a different type of tree in our backyard that is attracting so many bees at the moment that you can hear the buzzing from a few metres away!

Thanks for checking out my post!

@originalworks

Exceptionally difficult photographic capture, for these reasons:

  1. Composition exploits the power of the Rule of Thirds, centering attention on the subject matter
  2. Macro photography requires close proximity, and:
  3. These conditions produce a very narrow Depth of Field, which is excellent and most desirable, focuses viewer attention on subject, but
  4. Subject matter is most likely moving: the bee, the lavender, even in the slightest breeze, the slightest of which will, at these extremes, move the subject out of the focal point
  5. Your images have perfect focal point and depth of field, and
  6. Appear to be taken under overcast conditions, which are excellent lighting conditions for exposing flowers with true-to-life colours, but also contribute significantly to narrow Depth of Field, exacerbating the above stated constraints on focal point

Well done, these are very, very good images. Take a bow :)

Thanks for your very in-depth analysis! I would like to add number 7... the risk of getting stung by all the bees on the lavender! :D

Thanks for sharing it my friend it loved these bees <3

So glad to hear you have happy bees. It scares me how few I saw this summer here. Great shots!

Very happy bees here right now. As the Australian anthem says, "Our home is girt by sea" so hopefully this will protect us from some of those nasty diseases!

I hope so! Treasure them, and keep the ag chemicals out, too!

It is true bees really love lavender flowers. Great photos.
