Yep it was a bit disapointing but that's just the way it goes sometimes. We still had a good day down by the river.

Yes that is the way it goes for sure but the fact that you had a good day by the water is the most important thing :)
True, spending time with family is a joy especially since both my sons are keen on photography too.
It was my eldest son's idea to get a moonrise.
Moonrises can be spectacular when close to the horizon as you get the lensing effect of the atmosphere as you probably know.
Thats so cool your sons are into photography as well, my daughter in law is a little into it but lives two and a half hours away, but when I retire I will be moving nearer to them so hopefully, we will get out on shoots together
Yes Moonrises can be spectacular, but i dont have much luck with them, almost every time I try and catch the moon it hides behind clouds :)
That will be cool and it's nice to have a family member to bounce ideas off of and collaborate together.
Clouds lol tell me about it. They get in the way so often it's almost a given.
They can add something to the image sometimes if we get lucky but not often.
This is the Supermoon from May 2017. It's a tad over exposed and the image filtering software wasn't very helpful just now as I was trying to enhance the clouds as it pixelated it too much 😊
But you get the idea?
Ohh yes I am looking forward to it and hope she is still keen on the idea but he timeI move there
Yes sometimes they can be a pain but as you say and show they can also be what makes an image
