Violet(Purple) Orchid

in #colorchallenge7 years ago (edited)

I photographed this orchid with the morning sun coming in my kitchen window. It is a white Phalaenopsis orchid dyed violet! I had never heard of orchids being dyed before I purchased this one.

Most likely this is a white orchid that has been dyed violet.

So for now I'll enjoy these violet blooms.

@violetmed your purple orchid was so vivid and beautiful! I didn't realize that the orchids can be dyed. In Hawaii, people grow them in their yards and there are so many different colors, you would be amazed. We use the orchid here for a lot of things as flowers are so much a part of the Hawaiian culture. Thank-you so much for your wonderful article on the orchid. I learn so much from you. I hope your week will be great and cooler! :D

Thank you! We've had 2 days of lovely rain!

Orchids... nature's eye candy!

This is an incredible article. They do a great job dying without hurting the flower. I love this,

Wonderful flower, and you have shown at it's best as well with these lovely photos.

Thank you very much!

I had no idea they could dye orchids! I have a lilac-colored phalanopsis that I'd given up for dead but I put it outside for a while and it's made a comeback! I've had it for nearly 4 years now, so I'm pretty sure its color is genuine--lol--as if orchids needed any help being beautiful :D

You will know if it was dies after it blooms again for you. Then it will be just white.
They do that to sell orchids with unusual colour. most of the time it is blue. Phalaenopsis orchids does not have blue flowers, so they colour them ;) Just a sellers trick.
