40 feet is too damn close. You must have walked like a ghost over this bird for it didn't notice you :D

I am sat on my balcony and he flies through the garden below - these hummingbirds are curious too,they fly right up to me within a few feet really really close and look me in the eye for a few seconds and then fly off again. This happens quite often. It is magical!
