Most poeple think that only colourful thingsd live in tropical waters and that the emerald seas of the Pacific Northwest are cold, dark and scary. Devoid of anything really colourful.
This little guy is defining the odds and changing minds. Candy Stripe Shrimp are a beacon of colour against the dark back grounds.
Due to their diminutive size and mostly transparent bodies they can be difficult to find but once you see them, they make for a great images. These shrimp are usually found around the bases of large White Plumose Anemones as will as Spotted Anemones.
Plumose Anemone
If disturbed, Candy Stripe Shrimp can quickly dart away so take your time and approach with care.

Wow this is really interesting, such a beautiful creature.
beautiful post
Amazing shots :)
The sea has so many cool lifeforms that still haven't even been discovered by humans yet. Most of the ocean is still unexplored. Exploring the deep seas would be so fun. It's amazing how colorful some fish are, especially when they look like a bright neon sign.
Wow that looks really cool. The sea holds so many things the human eye has yet to see.
wow!!! nice photography.
i like your activity.

It's so beautiful, it's snow white and it looks like a mushroom.
There's beauty everywhere
What the heck? That's in the PNW?! Who knew. I'm learning much more about the waters around here from you than I did from being in them. (I learned they're cold.) :)
Cool post. I love learning something new everyday

Wow this animal is amazing!
I too have an aquarium with many shrimps but its not a marine aquarium.
The color of the Candy Stripe Shrimp tops it all
That first fella is amazing – as though he's been expertly painted, ready for the black light club scene! The second photo reminds me of my open water dive certification in 2003. I learned how to dive on Koh Phi Phi in Thailand, swimming with leopard sharks, witnessing elegant anemone and stunning coral reefs that were destroyed in the following year's tsunami. I've always wished I had better photos from those dives – something, however slight, to preserve that special place. • Thanks for taking me back there....
I never knew cauliflower grew in the ocean. ;)
That is stunning, so nice as a photograph with the Anemone too.
Ah, this is definitely more exciting than the orange tangerines I submitted an hour ago. Are these Candy Stripe Shrimps glowing in the dark waters?
