Nicely told, Meno! I dig this a lot. One of these days, I'll tell you the story that this reminded me of from of an experience I had. My ending was happier than yours (don't hate me)...but the real point is...you made me laugh, you held my attention, and you gave me something that I could not only relate to, but you brought back a pretty cool memory that I hadn't thought about for a really long time. Kudos, bro!
