We are by no means experts in the comic book realm! We read them occasionally but honestly we have started collecting them solely off what covers we find most appealing!
Mmmmm, so does this make us comic book collectors or just art collectors?? ….. Either way, we don’t care because we like what we like!
Now, Regarding this particular comic:
First off, sure we are caught up in the hype of the Invincible show and might be steered towards this hype.
Secondly, it’s a comic we got for free from a great friend which makes it a little more special to us, so we may have some bias!
But finally, this cover is gruesome, the artwork is detailed and the bright colors of both Mark Graysons hero costume and the blood beaten out of him really pops off the white background.
I believe that if they had put other illustrations or background images behind Mark then it would have taken away from the image that is perfectly gruesome, visually appealing and encompasses the shows climactic points so well.
Obviously I don’t expect many (if any at all) to think this is the best comic book cover ever. In reality I’m sure there are others that may put this one to shame BUT as a newcomer to the comic book fandom, I love this piece!

I will die on this hill. I don't care what @blewitt says. Mark Bright mic-dropped this badass Shockwave piece in 1985, and the world is still recovering.
All aggrandizement aside, that Invincible cover is quite awesome, and a great choice. Doesn't matter if you're an early collector or a long-time collector, never be afraid to like what you like and enjoy what you enjoy. Comic books need gatekeepers like Death Stars need small thermal exhaust ports right below the main ports. :)
