"I Thought It Would Be Zombies..." Comic Crowdfunding Update #19; Advertising Opportunities Now Available!

in #comics6 years ago (edited)

Welcome to the Ad-Pocalypse...

We all know that "I Thought It Would Be Zombies..." takes place in a post apocalyptic fantasy world, but until that cataclysm of wonder and mayhem comes to pass, money makes the world go round. And like it or not, there's still big money in advertising.

As "I Thought It Would Be Zombies..." hurtles toward the printing presses later this summer, I'm looking to get my hands on a little bit o' that big money to aid in production and marketing costs by offering some advertising space! Believe it or not, I'm not a total sell-out hack for doing this. I actually want to include some advertising in the comic and have been planning it all along!

In several ways I'm designing the look and feel of "I Thought It Would Be Zombies..." to hearken back to the 1980's and earlier... the comics that I was first discovering when I initially fell in love with the art form as a kid. Ads were an integral and often entertaining part of the "comic book experience." Don't believe me? Check out any of the innumerable "Vintage Ads" posts that @cryplectibles regularly shares on his blog. That's what I'm looking to include in my comic.

Initially I imagined just placing parody ads, but then I figured, "Why not have fun ads that actually advertise real stuff?" So that's the idea. Every advertisement will be designed to evoke the feel of classic comic book advertising while promoting your product, business, or project! If you don't have any idea where to begin, don't worry... I'm sure I'll have more than enough ideas for the both of us! Sea monkey ads? A children's beverage mascot crashing through a wall? Bodybuilding manuals? Super heroes endeavoring to sell delicious fruit pies? Action figures and Saturday morning cartoons? All of these advertisements were regular staples of reading comics, and all can be catered to promote your brand in a fun and entertaining way. Steem focused products and projects are more than welcome, as a big facet of the funding and marketing of "I Thought It Would Be Zombies..." involves the cross promotion of Steem.

Currently there are 3 pages of advertisements planned to be spread throughout the 36 page first issue. Ad spaces include slots that are roughly 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, and 1/16th of a page. If you'd be interested in utilizing one of these spaces, here's the deal!

  1. I want these funds to be driven through the Fundition Campaign to help make it a success and increase the total, however it doesn't make sense to make these a new reward tier as some folks might have no use for them. As such, payment for ads is to be made through the Fundition Campaign site. This post will be regularly updated with available spaces and costs. Please comment with any questions, or to claim ad space following a suitable donation; or reach out to me via email.
  2. As a consequence of the above, as a bonus you also get access to the normal rewards tiers that any Fundition donation would achieve! As such any of these purchases guarantee you'll get a printed copy of the comic your ad appears in so you can bask in all its glory!
  3. In case your particular project is not something that I see as compatible with "I Thought It Would Be Zombies..." I reserve the right to reject any ads. If rejected, or we cannot mutually agree on an acceptable ad design in the end, you will be entitled to a full refund.
  4. Physical print run is aimed to be no less than 2000 copies, but the turnaround of these all selling is likely to be an extended period. Your ad may also be included in additional digital editions and collected editions at no additional charge, but this is not guaranteed. Ads that become "dead" by no longer having active projects or businesses to point to will most likely be phased out in such reprinted forms. Advertisement for long term projects/ ongoing businesses are highly recommended and would be the most effective. Launch is estimated to be October 2019.
  5. Advertisers will also be furnished with some exposure on www.ithoughtitwouldbezombies.com through an ad rotation and sponsor listing page at no additional cost. Traffic not guaranteed!

There are a couple large ads that I plan on including regardless, and supporters who have already donated substantially that have projects of their own which I am eager to help promote. As such many ad slots are already filled, but there are initially 8 remaining to be claimed. If I've "pre-populated" you on this list, I'll be reaching out to get the ball rolling and make sure you'd like to claim your available ad space!

This table will be updated as reservations progress.

If filled, the 8 remaining ad slots will generate $500 USD for the production of "I Thought It Would Be Zombies..." which is a substantial if not massive help! Should the program be highly successful, additional ad spaces could be made available... although with popularity prices may go up a bit, so book early if you're interested!

If you're a big fan of this comic project of mine, please spread the word about these ad opportunities far and wide to help make it a success! As always, thanks to everyone who shows such support and encouragement toward making this crazy little dream of mine a reality!
