Monsters and Heroes have always been sharing storylines together for years, so it shouldn't come as a surprise that this is what's happening in "Blood Hunters" #1. Bloodstorm One was bitten by the legendary Dracula himself. Situated in Brooklyn, this leader doesn't like being referred to as a clone by Smoke Eater. All being part of the Bloodcoven, these vampires can walk in the daylight with no problem. It is Avery, who escaped when friends of his were confronted by the Blood Hunters, that warns the Bloodcoven that this group is coming after them. Also, Avery would give anything to be accepted by this merry band of blood suckers.
Hallows' Eve, White Widow, Elsa Bloodstone and Dagger are the members of the Blood Hunters, which came together during a surprising uprising of vampires. The Miles Morales' Spider-Man has also become a vampire. The Blood Hunters join Spider-Man in a battle with a few vampires, when they discover that their partner in combat has also been turned. Blade can heal vampires, well, at least most of the time. It didn't work with Morales.
As a fairly new group, these heroes still are experiencing growing pains when it comes to working together as a team. This is a good debut issue written by Erica Schultz. Robert Gill and Rain Beredo bring that Nosferatu touch with their vampires. The alleyway scenes make for a great background while the street kids come across with a sense of realism. Hopefully, Elsa Bloodstone doesn't lose her cool and tries to eliminate the rest of her team. I am sure that notion has ran through her head when looking down upon others as amateurs.
