Flawed comment flag UI on busy.org

in #commemts6 years ago (edited)

You try to see who voted on a comment (or vote), but instead, a flag is sent at 100%. It's the second time this happens to me. I've posted about it before, and I opened a github issue long ago as well.

This happens on mobile more easily, but it can happen on the PC too.

For the mobile only:

  • The downvote button is too close to the upvote button.

Having the flag button moved away from the upvote button would avoid the issue of hitting the flag button by accident when trying to look at who voted. That itself is an easy change to make that would improve UI.

But even, then there are issues that would be better applied, and the downvote can stay where it is.

  • The downvote button doesn't ask for a percentage to flag at.

Who wants to give 100% flags, only? That's a bad UI and provides a bad UX. Giving a vote percentage bar like the upcote would allow one to cancel the downvoten as well.

  • The down vote button doesn't ask to confirm the flag.

On steemit.com, it gives you the warning that you are going to flag, before it goes into effect, on top of having a flag slider. This is great UI and provides a great UX where I don't accidentally flag and also don't use 100% flagging power unless I want to. Plus, the flag is far away from the upvote button. +3 points for steemit.com here.

I use busy to post my posts. I like busy.org. I just wish busy.org would fix this flawed UI. It would encourage me to use it for more than just posting ;)

Peace.

I totally agree with you. I done that mistake 3 or 4 times already. The same flaw exists when Bookmarking a post. In mobile, it's very easy to mess up and flag it instead. :-/

I'd like to ask you to participate in my Art Curation Initiative #8

Ughhhh, it sux majorly!

I don't have that feature for downvoting on Steemit. I don't have enough Steem power to unlock the features. :/

Hehe, I guess lucky you int hat base at least if you use busy.org ;)

I use busy for posting only.. Its to difficult to even use for replying to and upvoting comments..

I am looking forward to their updates as presented at Steem Fest 3 as they seemed to be ready to launch a mobile app to avoid the mobile interface painpoints!

Posted using Partiko iOS

Yeah, that would be good :)

And for the last time....

Remove the default self-vote at 0 seconds!!

Yeah, I disable it on the settings page, but... it doesn't kick in, and just goes back to being checked in the settings anyways...

It sounds like an accident waiting to happen. Yes safeguards need to be initiated to protect us from pressing the flag button against our will. A percentage flag would be a good step as a secondary measure. Thanks. @krnel

Yeah, it's a mess. Look how close those two buttons are.... lol

For some reason, the site busy.org loads very slow. I used it quite often but now I stopped doing so because of this issue. Did you also experience something like this?

I use busy to post my posts.

I used to do the same.

Yeah, it does load slower than steemit.com. i still post from busy.org ;)
