I wonder if there is a way we could mix an overall vote spread reward, somehow make voting worth more in a way that helps the little guys.
Account growth is what we need, and buy account growth, I mean value to the user.

So:
Steemit is not easy for non-technical people to understand, and for a lot of people, things they don't understand make it hard to use. Plain and simple, so this can't currently be a driving force. I know there are apps or projects that make it easier, but it still doesn't make sense to people how it works. When people don't understand, they simply don't trust.
Right now we don't have mass adoption. Just plain and simple. People sign up on twitter and Insta and Facebook because they don't want to be the people that haven't signed up. That is not us right now.
There are plenty of entertainment idea's on Steemit, but it is flooded by a lot of USELESS and unentertaining content that is up voted and thrown around the "front page." The best thing about Reddit, of which I view steemit a close cousin, is that I can follow specific subreddits that have LARGE communities looking for the greatest content. Yes there is vote selling there, but it is usually a very minor inconvenience. So we cannot compete with other entertainment/information platforms on pure merit like that, we are opposite.
This finally comes down to the true selling point. And it isn't decentralization, because the general populace does not care. Truly, it comes down to the value we can give them, and that includes an equal value. They will want to come to the platform and feel like what effort they are putting in is paying off.
There is nothing more infuriating, demoralizing, than seeing a piece of corn worth over $100, when your post you have worked hard for is worth pennies, and your account, that you've worked hard for for months, is worth $3.
Nothing more infuriating than seeing a circle jerk and knowing that nobody cares about your contribution to the community in entertainment, deep thought, whatever. All that matters is already having crypto to use a dirty way of buying votes, or being friends or being somebody who already has a ton of crypto.
Tell me, where is the incentive for new people when they can't get the very thing that is our biggest way to bring new people in, our greatest way to retain them, and grow the other 3 things that people care about, knowledge, entertainment, and mass adoption.
It seems to me that everybody cares way to much about the big investors, which do not give value to the platform. The investors are not gonna hold onto that money if people are not using it, they will sell and drop us like flies, they only care about money. And if we fail to provide that value as a community, they will just find somewhere else to park their money.
The only thing that can truly give us value, is people using the platform. And currently, we have very little incentive for ANYBODY to use it, other than those already here. Those who already have value.
So how do you get little accounts to have value, when everything is basically stacked against them.
The higher ups vote themselves and don't trickle anything down, they circle jerk their bullshit stories about what is good for the platform and cause divisiveness in the community, which just makes it worse for mass adoption.
Is there a way to make it worth more for people to vote in a wide spread?
Is there a way we could put more emphasis on voting, and less on posting?
A way to spread that voting, not giving as much as we do to these whales, but spreading some love to those little voters?
compromise with giving dividends in some way to those who have a ton of money.
Everybody cries about how those at the top should be able to do whatever they want with their money. Sure, within the boundaries of the platform and the rules we set.
Maybe we make peoples dividends come straight from their voting of the community. Maybe we make the voting and curation worth more.
Those big whales can't just vote themselves and gain a ton, they would be forced to share more with the community through different curation of people. Those who also vote, even if their accounts are not worth much, would get more than they get now.
Force the love to spread, and force the whales to actually DO SOMETHING for the platform to gain their EXTRA money.
There is a lot of tweaking that would be needed, there is a lot of questions that this would pose and it is not perfect, and it is also something I thought of randomly while reading your post.
But the fact that the big circle jerk each other while the rest get no value, will never allow us to grow.
And if we do not grow, we will never be worth anything, and all the circle jerking that these PoS are doing will be useless. Wasting every bodies time and possibly destroying a wonderful opportunity.
That was the idea I was trying to get out. The divide that is happening with all of the talking without action. All we can try to do is lead the horses to water if they don't drink they die of dehydration.
I took today to reflect and rant as I have many wonderful stories about this past year for tomorrows post. Some of this stuff was just eating away at me and I needed to get it out as a lot has changed on this platform since we suffered the SBD spike prices.
There are things I want to work on moving forward that need like-minded people. It has taken a while but I think I have found the right people to do the right thing and it's been easier to do it than any of us thought.
